Welcome to the second Euro CanTech
Welcome to the second Euro CanTech, being held in the vibrant city of Barcelona. The city with its beach location has always reminded me of Rio de Janeiro, but on a recent visit I was told, amazingly, that before the 1992 Olympic Games the city faced in and the beach was not a feature of the city. Well we are definitely facing out across the sea for Euro CanTech 2015, and we have visitors from around the world, including can makers from all over Europe, as well as Egypt, Dubai, USA, Morocco and Puerto Rico.
This year opening the Conference will be keynote speaker Eduard Tenas, group procurement director for The Damm Group, then after lunch Dr Ulrich Roeske, president of Apeal, will talk about five reasons to take a fresh look at steel for packaging.
The second day begins with keynote speaker John Revess, Rexam’s director of group sustainability, discussing sustainability as a positive differentiator for cans. Finishing off Wednesday’s session is Anders Linde, executive director of Metal Packaging Europe, with his views on creating value and a sustainable future. Between these eminent speakers are of course a host of presentations on some of the best and most technologically advanced equipment for the industry today. Writing this it sounds so awesome.
