Every Can Counts crosses BeNeLux region

Every Can Counts, the cross-European can recycling awareness programme, was present for the arrival of Tour de France in Liège (2 July) as well as the Libramont fair (28-31 July).

Visitors of the Every Can Counts stand at both events were invited to make small art objects from empty drink cans and had the chance to ride on a recycling bike with the purpose of crushing their used cans. Additionally, four competition winners were awarded a city bike, partially made from recycled drink cans.

Initiated by metal and can manufacturers, the programme which started off in Belgium was launched in the UK in 2009 and is now active in 12 European countries.

Today, more than seven cans out of ten are recycled in Europe and this number is steadily increasing every year due to campaigns like Every Can Counts which encourage Europeans to recycle their beverage cans wherever they are.
